Resolving Network Disconnection Errors on X (Twitter)

Last updated July 20, 2026

The error

While browsing X (formerly Twitter) with ReplyHunter active, you may hit a full-page error that says:

X error page: Something went wrong, but don't fret, let's give it another shot

Something went wrong, but don't fret — let's give it another shot.

Some privacy related extensions may cause issues on x.com. Please disable them and try again.

Why this happens

X's site fires a constant stream of background network requests. When one of them is blocked or dropped, X gives up and shows this page. Two things cause that: another browser extension blocking the request, or a temporary hiccup on X's side or in your connection. ReplyHunter reads what is already on the page and does not block X's network requests, but it runs alongside extensions that do.

The fix: refresh the page

Refresh the page (Ctrl+R on Windows, Cmd+R on Mac). In almost every case a single refresh reconnects the session and the error is gone. That is the whole fix.

If refresh does not clear it

An extension is probably blocking X's requests. The usual suspects, in order of likelihood:

  • Ad blockers (uBlock Origin, AdBlock Plus) with strict filter lists enabled on x.com
  • VPN or proxy extensions that route or rewrite requests
  • Privacy and tracker blockers (Privacy Badger, Ghostery) in strict mode

Disable them one at a time, refreshing X after each, until the error stops. Then add an exception for x.com in the one that caused it and re-enable it. If you have none of these installed, the issue is on X's side; wait a minute and refresh again.

Still stuck? Contact support and tell us which extensions you run.
